Barbara Broadcast restaurant scene was filmed in one of the restaurants of the Royal Manhattan Hotel (700 8th Avenue) after it closed in the early 70's. The hotel went through various owners in later years but does still exist and is now (under a different name) being used to house asylum seekers.

Thanks for your very knowledgeable reply. This director, Randy Metzger, really had a very sophisticated 'vision' for the film and everything aligned up perfectly. Do you know if the hotel building even exists anymore (as in not demolished) or re-purposed for something else? Just wondered. The film came out in 1977 which as a decade was not known for high fashion/style, the way the '80s (later) would be. This film is a rare treat just from that standpoint. Yeah, I much prefer the classic 70's and 80's porn from NY City and San Francisco. The actors were normal people that drifted into porn, the movies were shot on 16 mm or 35 mm film and had much higher resolution than the VHS video tape that came into use in the mid 80's. And the films had some acting and some humor. I have yet to see a modern porn flick that comes close to Behind the Green Door or Barbara Broadcast.

I'm sure you're right. I haven't looked yet for the film in its entirety yet. These old films were more erotic, and (xxx-rated or not) have many of the positive features 'regular' movies did,

This was released in 1981 and was originally shot on 35 mm. There are better digitized copies of it floating around.
